BRIAN GLOVER: FORTY YEARS OF PHOTOGRAPHY
ARTIST RECEPTION, FRIDAY, JANUARY 7, 2011, 7:30-10:00 pm
Special Musical Guests
HUBIE VINE and SIDE EFFECT
BRIAN GLOVER was born and raised in Chicago. He started drawing and painting at an early age and studied weekends at Chicago’s renowned Art Institute. In his teens, still photography became a calling for Brian, who counts such luminaries as Jacob Riis, Eugene Atget, Edward Weston and Walker Evans as influences. He studied photography at the Art Institute with such legendary names in the field as Gary Winogrand, and at Yosemite with Ansel Adams and Paul Caponigro. An adventurous soul, he backpacked his way around the continental United States making photographs and playing in chess tournaments, while earning his living as a portrait and commercial photographer. His personal work has been widely exhibited in galleries and photography shows. He then moved into the world of movie-making, joining the Cinematographer’s Guild in Chicago, and worked as a camera assistant on such notable films as ‘The Untouchables,’ ‘Home Alone,’ and ‘The Fugitive.’ Mr. Glover continued this work in Los Angeles, where he was honored for excellence by the International Cinematographer’s Guild. Still photography remains his enduring passion. The current exhibition follows last year's very successful thirty-year showing of NUDES. The Rumor Mill is glad to welcome him back with his new exhibition, BRIAN GLOVER: FORTY YEARS OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Special Musical Guest singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist HUBIE VINE & Side Effect will be providing the evening's musical entertainment. The exhibition for BRIAN GLOVER: FORTY YEARS OF PHOTOGRAPHY continues through January 31.
